SimCity Mac Release Date
Here at SneakyGamer we have heard many tales of Mac users running Windows virtual machines in Mac OS in order to get their SimCity fixes, but no more! Maxis has announced today that Simcity is coming to the Mac on June the 11th. Customers who purchase SimCity (or have purchased it already) will be able to play on both Apple and Microsoft platforms for no additional cost. The Mac version will only be available as a digital download from EA's Origin application.
Lucy Bradshaw, Senior Vice President and General manager of EA's Maxis Label, stated that "We didn't want to make any compromises when it came to the Mac so we created a native version that is optimized for the hardware and OSX".
We applaud EA for that fact that SimCity will be completely multi-platform and players on a Mac will be able to build their cities on the same servers as their Windows-based friends. This is a real rarity in our increasingly walled-off world.
It remains to be seen whether Mac users will experience the same teething problems suffered during the Windows release of SimCity. We seriously hope not, if we get another "Your city is not synchronized with the server" error we might crawl up in a ball and cry.
